Highly acclaimed Urdu poet, Ahmed Faraz is surely one of the most intellectual people of the last century. His pen name was ‘Faraz’ and he used that throughout this poetry. Ahmed Faraz was normally compared with Faiz Ahmed Faiz at times. Ahmed Faraz poetry depicts the color of political affiliations. He wrote poems criticizing the military power in Pakistan and was arrested for that. He spent 6 years in Canada, Britain, and Europe, and then returned to Pakistan and took charge as the Chairman, Pakistan Academy of Letters. He also became the chairperson of National Book Foundation for some years. Ahmed Faraz was awarded various recognitions like Hilal-e-Imtiaz, Sitara-i-Imtiaz and Hilal-e-Pakistan.
